After unspooling in venues as diverse as sold-out movie houses and jam-packed Miami living rooms, Spiritual Warriors played its first yoga studio August 15, entertaining an enthusiastic reception at The Yogi Tree in Toluca Lake, California. The film was screened "drive-in style" at the studio, finding audience members relaxed on pillows, bolsters, blankets, and yoga mats, many of them snuggling or holding hands while the film played. Audience response was warm and passionate.
Critically-acclaimed actor/filmmaker Jsu Garcia joined The Yogi Tree for a 30-minute Q&A, during which he shared stories about the film's making, his own spiritual journey, and the importance of surrendering ego to finding peace in this life. Garcia took photographs with fans and enjoyed a light dessert reception, as well. "Building community is a key component of The Yogi Tree's mission," says Todd Jensen, who owns and operates the studio with wife, Jennifer Kelly. "It's deeply meaningful to us to build, entertain, and enlighten our community with provocative, moving, uplifting works of act, like Spiritual Warriors.
